Discovery Class

Our small group gathers for Christian fellowship to study and learn God’s truth in biblical precepts.   Together, we help each other discover how those eternal truths can change our lives by seeking God first in our daily lives and empowering us to serve through the Holy Spirit.

Class Information

  • Our class meets at 10:15am on Sunday mornings in class number 20 on the Emerywood wing.

  • As a class, we have a broad demographic, which we see as an advantage in our study and applications to our day-to-day lives.  In general, we have a broad age range of 20-40′s and both married and single, with and without children.

Current Study

As part of the season of Lent, we have been studying as a group Epeshians 4:22-24:

22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.”

The study digs into the scriptures to learn the characteristics we as Christians are called to put on.  The scripture study is on the following link.  This is a great personal devotion as well.

Into Thy Word\’s – Put On List

Starting on April 10th, we will begin a 15 week study on Max Lucado’s “Fearless – Imagine Your Life Without Fear”.

Chapter 1 tells us that the most common command is to “fear not”.  The gospels list 125 Christ-issued imperatives to “not be afraid”, “not fear”, “have courage”, “take heart”, or “be of good cheer”.   The second most common command to love God and your neighbor appears 8 times.  Clearly, there is something for Christians to gain by understanding fear and learning how to replace fear with our trust in God.

Come join us as we study Fearless.  The book is very easy to read, and each chapter covers a particular area of “fear” that many of us hold onto in our lives.  So you can join the study at anytime without fear of being able to pick up on the current group discussions.  You can purchase a book for about $15 at any Christian book store or on-line book store.  The current schedule for our study is

Mission Plans

In the last year, our group has taken part in service opportunities with our church’s play ground maintenance, STOP HUNGER NOW, cooking meals and making lunches for our church’s Room In The Inn mission to our homeless neighbors.  We are continually looking for other opportunities to serve as a group.
