“Follow Me”
As we continue in the joy of the Resurrection, we reflect on Jesus’ tender encounter with His disciples after rising from the dead. In John 21, Jesus meets them in their uncertainty, provides for their needs, and gently restores Peter with a simple yet profound invitation: “Follow me.”
Friends, as we all know, this call is not rooted in obligation, but in love. Jesus asks Peter, “Do you love me?” reminding us that true discipleship begins with a heart transformed by Christ’s love. From that love flows commitment, trusting God with our lives, even when the path is unclear. Following Jesus also calls us to surrender, to lay aside our own plans, and to walk in obedience, even when it requires sacrifice.
Like Peter, we may wonder about our future or feel unworthy because of past failures. Yet, Jesus meets us where we are, restores us, and calls us forward. Our task is not to compare our journey with others, but simply to keep our eyes on Him.
May we respond with faith, allowing His love to guide us, His grace to restore us, and our lives to become a testimony of His transforming power.
With Love,
Pastor Norma
Who Are We:
The direction we believe God has given us to grow into being a multi-cultural congregation. A one-mile radius around our building includes 4% Asian, 19% African-American, 42% White, and 32% Hispanic or Latino neighbors. We best represent God's Kingdom and God's love when we are together. This is substantive work. We're getting better at approximating God's goal, but we're not there yet. We need to learn from people like you. We believe in the vision that Jesus gave us when he fed the 5,000, a vision in which we'll all be fed and healed at Jesus' feet together. We hope that we can partner with you in his work.
