United Methodists delegates and support from around the world will begin arriving in Charlotte
next week - April 21st! Want to get involved? You’ve got options.
1) Support Nourish Up (formerly known as Loaves & Fishes). The Metro District is highlighting the issue of food insecurity and asking everyone to contribute. SAUMC is no stranger to this work and we hope that between April 15th and April 30th you will grab some extra when you go to the store. The shopping cart is ready to receive your donations and we’ll add some squarrels to the mix.
2) Pray. On Sunday, April 21st, churches across the conference are being asked to celebrate and pray for the work of General Conference.
Acts 2:42-47 reminds us the work of the church in response to the Great Commission, and that work is summed up beautifully in our membership vows: Pray, Be Present, Give Generously, Serve Well, and Share the Good News of Jesus with Everyone!
3) Participate. Here’s the link to schedules, news, and eventual livestream. https://www.umc.org/en/who-we-are/structure/general-conference, We’ve even got a few folks from our church who are braving the light rail and convention center to offer hospitality and welcome. Thank you to them!
4) Be here on Sunday, April 28th, as we welcome Bishop Minverva Carcano as our guest preacher. Across the conference on April 28th churches throughout the region will be welcoming guest preachers and we are blessed to have her with us.
