Honesty We strive to be honest and trustworthy in all things, while promoting clear communication and appropriate problem resolution. Faith Development We encourage an open and safe environment that gives youth the freedom to explore, develop and live out their faith in God, while discovering and sharing their spiritual gifts through service and relationships. Who Can Participate: We welcome any youth who is currently in the 6th to 12th grade. Programs include: Sunday Night Programs The Gathering Engaging Sunday School Classes Mid-week Bible Studies Fantastic Weekend Retreats Life-changing Mission Trips and Service Opportunities Fun Fellowship Trips (Ice skating, Bowling, Laser Tag, etc.) And much much more! There are more detailed descriptions of each of these programs below. We hope you find a place of belonging here at St. Andrews UMC and become part of our family! If you are interested in learning more about St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church’s youth program, please feel free to contact our Family Ministries Director at anytime! Program Details: Sunday Night Programs We meet most Sunday's evenings for our youth program. These programs generally include a fellowship meal and then a program where our middle school and high school youth are separated into their own groups. Middle school programs are interactive based programs where they explore different topics of faith and how to apply them to their life. Our high school group is still interactive, but also allows for more space to sit and have meaningful discussions where youth can explore their faith and express their doubts in a safe environment! Engaging Sunday School Classes Our youth Sunday school classes meet Sunday mornings. There is a class for high school students and a class for middle school students. Our middle class works through a fun curriculum that helps students gain biblical literacy and understanding! Our high school class is like a coffee hour conversation time where the topics of the day are brought up mostly by the youth themselves! Mid-week Bible Studies We offer times for our youth to gather in small groups at various times during the week for more focused bible study and application! Fantastic Weekend Retreats & Trips We have 4 annual weekend trips/day trips: Winter Retreat - Each January/February we go on a day ski trip. This trip is usually to Winterplace Ski Resort. Camping Trip - Each fall we take a tent camping trip where we cook over a fire, go on great hikes, and have a nice relaxing stress-free weekend with no real schedule or agenda. Camp Tekoa Family Retreat - Each Labor day weekend we have a 4-day family retreat outside of Hendersonville, NC. We have lots of fun as a church, enjoying all that Camp Tekoa has to offer with fishing, paddle boats, canoes, hiking, zip line, rock climbing/rappelling, and volleyball! We have great outdoor worship experiences, a great campfire, great devotional times, and lots of great fellowship with our church family. This is a great weekend. Spring Retreat - Each spring, we take a weekend retreat together, usually to Camp Tekoa. This is a great weekend, filled with zip-lines, 4-square, canoeing, worship, and meaningful discussion times. Life-changing Mission Trips and Service Opportunities Each summer we take a week long Mission trip that we go away from Charlotte to be God's hands and feet in our world. We generally go to White Lake, NC and work in Northern Pender County with Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministries doing basic home repair! This is a great week of service that helps us gain perspective in our own lives as we get to glimpse into the lives of our brothers and sisters in need. The youth also participate and volunteer in lots of churchwide mission opportunities. These include our Free Summer Meals, Loaves and Fishes, Urban Ministries, and much more! Fun Fellowship Trips Often on Sunday nights we will break from our usual Sunday night youth program to have some fun Fellowship trips. We do many fellowship events in the summer as well. Trips in the past have included rock climbing at Inner peaks, Laser tag at Laser Quest, Ice Skating at Pineville Icehouse, Bowling at Ten Park Lanes, Carowinds trips, Concerts, and movie nights. |
